From birth, rather than other senses, it uses its sense of smell to recognize its surroundings, and from the 5th month of birth can distinguish different odors. They use their sense of smell to recognize their mother and drink her milk. It is stated that the smell of breast milk has a calming effect, lemon-flavored cotton swabs regulate the breathing of babies, and the scent of vanilla reduces the frequency of apnea.
